Fundamentals of Tiling and Brickwork

This course is structured to offer a foundational understanding of tiling and brickwork. It delves into measurement, uses of power tools, mortal and mixing applications, types of brick and bricklaying techniques, brick patterns and bonds, types of tiles, tiles cutting and shaping, tiles fixing and finishing, tiles adhesives and grouts. This comprehensive curriculum equips learners with the knowledge necessary for theoretical and practical applications within the tiling field

Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, the trainees should be able to:

  • Understand tile types and selection 

  • Prepare and lay tile substrates 

  • Cut and shape tiles accurately 

  • Lay tiles to pattern and design 

  • Apply tile adhesives and grouts 

  • Finish and seal tiles Understand brick and block types and selection 

  • Prepare and lay brickwork foundations 

  • Lay bricks to pattern and bond 

  • Cut and shape bricks accurately 

  • Apply mortar and pointing 

  • Ensure brickwork structurally  

  • Demonstrate plastering of wall

Training Requirement

  • Science background or technical experience is an added advantage

  • 18 years and above
